CHITA Membership
2011/2012 CHITA Membership Structure
Recent social and economic movements, especially around the Federal Stimulus Package, have brought new and renewed energy around health information technology. CHITA, as a convener and as an education provider, is available to provide resources to help you and your organization in many ways:
- Networking opportunities to connect with colleagues and consultants in the healthcare IT industry;
- Meet and hear from key decision makers and stakeholders involved in healthcare IT issues locally, regionally, and nationally;
- Learn about new legislation, dialogue with industry leaders, and hear fellow colleagues and organizations share their experiences and case studies; and
- Participate in the development of information and technology standards and business conventions as they relate to specific market activities.
Membership Eligibility
CHITA membership is open to any individual with an interest in information sharing and electronic commerce in the health industry. CHITA offers two levels of participation – one with payment of an annual fee, and one on a pay-as-you-go “a la Carte” basis.
Member Benefits
Annual Member – ($50 per year or $35 for students!)
- 20% discount on CHITA Forum registrations (membership pays for itself if you attend two forums in a year)
- Access to electronic handouts/materials from ALL Forums (subject to release by speakers)
- Ability to participate in Forum sponsor surveys
- Special member rates on CHITA-sponsored publications, conferences, and partner-organized activities
Group Membership
Pay-As-You-Go Member
- No annual dues
- No discounts on CHITA Forum registrations
- Access to electronic handouts/materials from ONLY those forums you attend (subject to release by speakers)
- Ability to participate in Forum sponsor surveys
Membership Rights and Privileges
Membership in CHITA provides the following rights and privileges:
- An opportunity to support the expansion of electronic commerce in Washington state and surrounding regions;
- Participation in ongoing education and outreach programs relevant to health information exchange;
- Special member rates on CHITA-sponsored publications, conferences, workshops and other such organized activities;
- Eligibility to serve on the CHITA Board; and
- Opportunities to contribute to Work Group activities on an ad hoc basis.
Recommendations developed as a result of Work Group activities will be presented to—and endorsed, when appropriate—by the CHITA Board.
Member Responsibilities
- CHITA members will not use educational meetings, social mixers and/or Work Group activities as forums for sales and/or marketing efforts for their respective organizations. All CHITA members are responsible for adhering to this code of conduct.
- CHITA members are expected to recognize and support the mission and operating principles of the organization.
- CHITA members will comply with all rules of membership established by the CHITA Board including timely payment of designated membership fees.

CHITA — the Community Health Information Technology Alliance — brings together healthcare and technology organizations and individuals in the Pacific Northwest to provide advice, education, and leadership. CHITA’s mission is to help expand and enhance the adoption of Information Technology in healthcare for the purpose of improving efficiency and quality of care.
CHITA promotes and enhances health information access in a number of ways, including consensus building through public education and outreach, standards development (e.g., eligibility messaging), and the creation or support of significant demonstration projects. Expert, collaborative Work Groups are created to lead particular projects when necessary.
