CHITA Forums
The CHITA Forums first started in February 2000 when CHITA began focusing its efforts on issues related to privacy and security of health data transmission using Internet technologies. First named the HIPAA Readiness Forums, they responded to the shared concerns of many in our community as they rushed to prepare for new federal regulations and security deadlines.
Since that time, the Forums have evolved to address newer and more diverse topics of concern to CHITA’s members as they respond to the passage of new state and federal legislation, adapt to changing technologies, and respond to the formation of new organizations and alliances.
Led by a cross-disciplinary planning committee made up of volunteers representing a range of health care perspectives, the CHITA Forums continue to provide educational opportunities and places to network for hundreds of professionals each year.

By now you've heard plenty about President Obama's Stimulus package to move healthcare providers to using Electronic Health Record systems. But what does that mean and how does it affect you? With so much information in the market about government incentives, CHITA is dedicated to helping you understand what it all means.
The Health Information Technology for Economic and Clinical Health (HITECH) Act [.pdf], a component of the federal stimulus legislation known as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA), authorizes roughly $36 billion in outlays over six years for health information technology. The goal of the legislation is to ensure that each person in the United States has an electronic health record by 2014. Its success will be measured in part by how well it is implemented and the impact it has on improving the quality, safety, and efficiency of care.
It is important that healthcare systems understand the legislation, timelines, and financial incentives and how to prepare for them in light of any recent developments. To assist us in understanding recent developments in ARRA timelines, established requirements, and incentives, we are pleased to announce the following list of experts for our July 28, 2009 summer Forum:
- Russell Branzell, FCHIME, FACHE, FHIMSS, VP of Corporate Services, Beacon Partners
